DESCRIPTION
I always keep a carefully selected stock of Rolleiflex 2.8F type 1 and 2 cameras fitted with the Carl Zeiss Planar 80/2.8 lens
These cameras serve as the foundation for a complete Magicflex rebuild.
I do not provide photographs of the cameras before the work begins, because the final camera is not simply cleaned or cosmetically improved. During the rebuild, it is taken apart down to its core components and effectively re-manufactured from the ground up.
Every part is inspected individually. I do not select components simply because they look good. I choose the parts that work precisely together and allow me to achieve the best possible mechanical, optical and cosmetic result. And yes, perfect lenses without coating damage etc.
You can see the expected final condition in the examples of cameras I have already completed and sold, both here and on my Instagram.
A Rolleiflex in this technical and cosmetic condition, especially with optics of this quality, is extremely difficult to find on the open market.
This standard can only be achieved through a complete rebuild, careful component selection and precise final adjustment.
This is not occasional restoration work. It is what I have specialised in and worked on every day for more than 15 years.

MY REBUILD WORKFLOW AND PHILOSOPHY
Every camera rebuild is its own project.
I completely rebuild and re-adjust the camera from the ground up.
This work is on a totally different level than a typical CLA.
Having full control over the entire process takes significantly more time and a lot of attention to detail.
I fully strip the camera, inspect every part, and bring all internal components and adjustments back to factory specification or even better.
I clean, renew, re-lubricate, and re-adjust the entire camera, then test every function.
As a result, everything works with high precision and often feels even smoother than it did when new. Focus is calibrated exactly to the film plane, and the camera is film-tested on a dedicated stand to guarantee excellent focus accuracy.

Due to new customs regulations effective September 1, 2025, UPS is currently the only carrier we can use to ship from Germany to the United States. The good news is that, based on our October 2025 shipments, total fees and duties have not exceeded about $150 for a used camera—even on items valued above €5,000 so no significant taxes or fees are expected.

Buying a cheaper Rolleiflex may initially seem like the better deal, provided, of course, that you do not look too closely at the details. In most cases, however, you are buying a camera that is more than 60 years old, with an unknown service history, uncertain optical condition and no reliable way to assess its true technical state from photographs.
Many problems may not become apparent during the first days or even weeks of use. They reveal themselves later through soft images, flare or glowing areas on the negatives, inaccurate shutter speeds, focusing errors and other unpleasant surprises that turn your time, money and effort into disappointing photographs.
Even a camera described as “mint” or “recently serviced” may still have problems with the shutter, film transport, focusing mechanism, lens alignment, film plane, exposure meter or internal wear. Cosmetic condition tells you very little about how well the camera actually performs.
Once these problems begin to appear, the buyer has to find a genuinely qualified Rolleiflex specialist, of whom very few remain, arrange insured international shipping, wait for an inspection, search for increasingly scarce spare parts and then pay again for repairs, adjustment and return shipping.
What initially appeared to be a bargain can quickly turn into an expensive, prolonged and exhausting project. Eventually, the camera that was supposed to bring you pleasure may become a source of nothing but frustration.
When you buy a Magicflex camera, you are not buying an unknown 60 year old camera and simply hoping for the best. You receive the finished result of a complete rebuild, assembled from carefully selected and correctly matched components, precisely adjusted and thoroughly tested on film.
The difference is not merely cosmetic. It is the difference between buying an old camera with an uncertain future and buying a Rolleiflex that you can use with complete confidence from the very first roll and simply enjoy photography.
